Scholarship Program

Thank you for your interest in our Scotch Plains-Fanwood UNICO Memorial Scholarship.

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Chapter of UNICO is dedicated to helping area students maximize their talent and potential through educational pursuits. Over the past 50 years, since our chapter has formed, we have distributed over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarship awards.    

This year, the chapter is offering to high seniors who are of verifiable Italian heritage a total of SIX (6) scholarships as follows:

* FOUR - $2,500 scholarships to students who will be attending a 4-year college/university

* ONE - $1,500 scholarship to a student who will be attending a 2-year college

* ONE  - $1000 scholarship to a student who will be attending any vocational, technical or trade school

• Applicants must reside in Scotch Plains or Fanwood to be considered for an award.                                                                         (Exception: Children of SP-F UNICO members in good standing have no residency requirements)

• Applicants may attend a high school outside of Scotch Plains or Fanwood.

• Scholarship winners are selected by the general membership of Scotch Plains-Fanwood UNICO. Awards are based on a combination of financial need, academic excellence, extracurricular activity, and civic involvement. Scholarships will be applied to the first year of study at an accredited college/university or any vocational/technical/trade school. (The chapter may consider applying the scholarship to the second year of study, if necessary.)

• Scholarship awards will NOT be paid directly to the student. Payment will be sent directly to the educational institution, not exceeding the remaining charges after considering all other scholarships/grants. Scholarship winners MUST provide our scholarship chairperson with a detailed Bursar’s invoice/School Tuition Invoice and documentation of expenses in order for funds to be disbursed. (Without the proper invoice/documentation of expenses, scholarship maybe voided.

2024 SP-F UNICO Memorial Scholarship Application

• Please be sure to follow all requirements and deadlines of your school counseling office for release of transcripts.  Our scholarship committee will request transcripts from your school upon receipt of your application or you may have your school send your transcript to  spfunicosholarship@gmail.com by March 6, 2024.   Letters of recommendation are NOT required and will not be accepted.
